From Facebook to a permanent home
Belgiek Koerse is a three-day village festival in Deerlijk, around the Vichtesteenweg, with horse racing, folk games and music. Previously, all digital communication happened through Facebook. Its own website now keeps information permanently accessible in one central place, without requiring visitors to search through a timeline.
The tradition goes back to 1959, when the story began with a bet in café ’t Kruiske. That history and the festival’s distinctive local character now have a permanent place on the website as well.
The website
The website brings together the programme for Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the sponsors, the festival’s history and a photo archive. A featured event and countdown on the homepage draw attention to the next important moment.
A programme that can evolve
Programme days and activities are modelled as structured content. For each day, the committee can manage times, descriptions, images and links to more detailed event information. The presentation adapts to smaller screens, keeping the programme easy to consult while visitors are on the move.
Giving sponsors a visible place
Sponsors help make the local event possible. A dedicated overview presents every partner consistently and links visitors to their website where possible.
Photo archive and CMS
The festival committee manages the current programme, sponsors and photo albums through ProcessWire. Albums are automatically ordered by date and open their images in a PhotoSwipe gallery. The PHP and Twig frontend uses responsive images, Tailwind CSS and assets built through Vite.
